Why is it called AvengerCon?

AvengerCon started in 2016 as an internal training event hosted by the A Company Avengers in the 781st Military Intelligence Battalion at Fort Meade. Each year since it has grown to include more and more of the US Cyber Command units and partners, but the name has stuck.

What's with the World War II aesthetic?

In the long history of warfare, cyberspace is a new and exciting domain that challenges our understanding of tactics, strategy, organization, and culture. However, innovation is endemic to the battlefield and there are many examples of technology changing the face of war. One example that we've chosen to examine is the Interwar Period between the major World Wars. From mobile tanks to bombing planes, the U.S. Army had much to learn about the future of fighting. To represent this period of technological innovation which drove organizational and cultural changes in the U.S. military, we've selected a visual theme for this year's event centered on the Interwar Period and its lasting effects on warfare.
